Summer 2025 Financial Aid Process Update

We are excited to share important updates regarding the Summer 2025 financial aid process at Morgan State University. These changes are designed to simplify your experience and ensure all eligible students are reviewed for aid in a timely manner.

What’s New?
There is no longer a separate Summer Financial Aid Application. Instead, the Office of Financial Aid will automatically review all students who are registered in summer courses for financial aid eligibility.

How It Works
If you're registered for Summer 2025 classes, our team will evaluate your aid eligibility based on:

  • Your 2024–2025 FAFSA

  • Your total number of registered summer credits at the time of review

  • Your overall financial aid eligibility and remaining aid from the academic year

What You Can Expect

  • If you are eligible for summer aid, you’ll receive an email from your assigned Financial Aid Counselor within 5–10 business days. This message will include a Summer Aid Form outlining your aid eligibility and next steps to accept, decline, or submit any required documents.

  • If you are not eligible, you’ll receive an email explaining the reason(s) and helpful guidance on alternative financing options like Parent PLUS, Graduate PLUS, or private loans.

Types of Aid Considered

  • Federal Pell Grant: Up to 150% of your scheduled Pell Grant eligibility, if applicable.

  • Federal Direct Loans: Based on remaining annual eligibility. Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits undergraduate/ 5 credits graduate).

  • PLUS Loans: Parent PLUS (undergraduate students) or Graduate PLUS loans are available with credit approval.

  • Private Loans: Available through lenders of your choice. Ensure course load and term dates meet lender requirements.

Reminder: Students cannot receive federal aid from multiple institutions during the same enrollment period. Doing so will result in cancellation and a potential balance due.

Need Help?
Contact your assigned Financial Aid Counselor with any questions. We’re here to support your success this summer!

2025-2026 FAFSA Information

The 2025-2026 FAFSA application will be available December 2024!

Please find below some helpful tips and information to help prepare you for the 2025-2026 FAFSA once available.

  • Create or reconfirm your Studentaid.gov Account (Previously known as FSA ID). Every contributor (student, parent, spouse) who needs to provide information on the FAFSA needs a Studentaid.gov Account (Previously known as FSA ID). This includes the student, the student's parents or stepparents (if the student is a dependent), and the student's spouse (if applicable).

  • NEW- The Future Act requires all contributors (student, parent, spouse) on the FAFSA to provide consent to share their tax information with the IRS. If the student, spouse,or parent, does not provide consent on the FAFSA the student will not be eligible for any federal aid.

    • Future Act Direct Data Exchange (FADDX)- In 2025-2026, the FADDX authorizes the IRS to provide federal tax information directly to the FAFSA application upon receiving consent. Consent is mandatory for transferring federal tax information from the IRS and determining the student’s aid eligibility. If a student or contributor does not provide consent, the student will be ineligible for any federal aid

  •  Visit our new FAFSA Simplification webpage for information on other new regulations and processes to receive federal aid.
