Morgan State Launches College for Returning Adult Learners

Colleges and universities have had to rethink higher education in the pandemic, and make the learning experience more flexible. A new program at Morgan State University focuses on degrees for adult learners returning to school. Its College of Interdisciplinary and Continuing Studies offers non-traditional students, returning students, working adults and others the chance to finish a degree, drawing in part from their own knowledge and professional experience.

NASA, HBCUs Partner On Program To Increase Diversity In The Geosciences

A partnership between NASA and several area HBCUs is looking to increase diversity in the geosciences by providing paid internships with hands-on research experiences. It’s called Student Airborne Science Activation, or SaSa. It’s an eight-week paid internship that will allow 25 students from the six partner HBCUs, including Morgan State University, to work with and learn from NASA experts.

As Higher Education Enrollment Numbers Lower Nationwide, Trends at Maryland Universities and Colleges Vary

Enrollment trends vary at individual universities, both public and private, across the state from 2019 to 2021. Several schools in the University System of Maryland, such as UMBC and Coppin State University, saw declines in enrollment. However, some institutions, like Morgan State University, defied national patterns and experienced boosts in their student ranks.
